Bolt: one creative engine, 29 markets, seven continents

Bolt runs on local trust in every city it operates. The creative challenge wasn't making one good ad — it was building a system that could carry a consistent brand across five business lines, two brand names, and every populated continent, without the quality collapsing into a translation exercise.

Departure · The challenge

Global consistency without global sameness

A ride in Bangkok, a food delivery in Sofia, a driver sign-up in Nairobi, a business account in Prague — Bolt is a different promise in each, and its trust is intensely local. The brief was never "make an ad." It was to run a continuous creative operation that could hold one recognisable Bolt voice across five verticals and dozens of cultures at once, while still feeling native in every feed.

Two constraints shaped everything: the work had to scale — new markets and launches landed constantly — and it had to stay locally credible, because a tone-deaf ad in a launch market costs more than money.

Stop 1 · Verticals

Five business lines, one creative system

Each vertical speaks to a different person with a different job-to-be-done. I set the creative strategy across all five, keeping a shared brand language while tuning the message per audience — riders, eaters, drivers, business travellers, and Bolt Plus subscribers.

Rider

74

Safety, scheduled rides, "Riding is the New Driving," night-out and date-night moments.

Driver

36

Flexibility and earnings — "A Day in the Life," professional-driver POVs.

Eater

36

Affordability and launches — "My Bolt Food Era," city-launch group-chat concepts.

Business

20

Hassle-free work travel — expenses in one place, "Talk to Future Me."

Bolt Plus

✦

Subscription value — "Worth the hype," premium-tier positioning.

Stop 2 · The system

Regional masters, localised without reshooting

Volume at this scale only works if you're not reinventing every asset. The model: build a strong regional master concept — often produced via TikTok Creative Exchange — then localise it out to individual markets with local creators, local idiom, and the same underlying structure. One Driver concept could spin out into eight market localisations; a single Rider idea like "Riding is the New Driving" ran natively across Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Concept

One regional master built to travel — structure and hook designed for adaptation from the start.

Localise

Local creator, local language, cultural reference swapped — the architecture stays, the skin changes.

Voice / no voice

Concepts built with and without VO so markets could deploy fast, with or without a voice actor.

QA

Script, translation, and creative reviewed per market so nothing shipped that read as foreign.

Two brands

Same system carried both Bolt and Hopp — the brand name Bolt uses in Canada and select markets.

Repeat

~14 productions a month, sequenced across verticals and markets on a rolling calendar.

Stop 3 · Reach

Every populated continent

The account spanned 29 markets across all seven inhabited continents — a genuine test of whether one creative system could hold up everywhere from established European markets to new-launch cities in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Europe 18 markets

UK, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine.

Asia 4 markets

Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam.

Africa 2 markets

Nigeria, Kenya.

Middle East 2 markets

Azerbaijan, Dubai.

Americas 2 markets

Canada (as Hopp) and Paraguay — North and South.

Oceania 1 market

New Zealand.

A "Riding is the New Driving" or "Getting home safely after a night out" concept had to land in Lagos, Lisbon, and Kuala Lumpur alike — proof that a well-built master travels further than a locally-made one-off, at a fraction of the production cost.Rider & Eater concepts, live production log
Terminus · Outcome

A repeatable engine, not a campaign

The result wasn't a hero film — it was an operating system for creative: a rolling pipeline of ~14 productions a month, a library of reusable concepts, and a localisation model that let Bolt enter or refresh a market without commissioning fresh production each time. Concept, script, creator, translation, and delivery ran as one sequenced flow across every vertical and region.

It's the part of the job most creative reels never show — the ability to run a sprawling, multi-brand, multi-continent account and keep it shipping, on brand, and locally credible, week after week.
